God is not Desperate

I’ll keep this brief.

I am thrilled that the God of the Bible is not the god of Arminian theology.

Allow me to explain what i mean.

The God of the Bible takes sinners who are opposed to Him and changes their hearts so that they desire Him more than the sin they used to live with. The Arminian god acts like a boyfriend in a failing relationship: “Please like me. Please spend time with me. Please give me your heart. Please trust me. What else do I have to do to prove my love to you?”

The God of the Bible is authoritative. The Arminian god is a joke. Be in a one-sided relationship sometime, and you’ll quickly realize the truth in this post.
The terrible thing about the Arminian god is that he is more foolish than any boyfriend in a failing relationship; the Arminian god will never stop trying.

The doctrine of irresistible grace teaches that those whom God regenerates will trust in Him and be saved eternally. There is no fight. God changes their hearts to see Him as beautiful, and they run to Him as the only hope of their souls.

This change occurs miraculously between the hearing of the gospel and the believing of the gospel. It makes salvation entirely a work of God. If we had to believe to be saved, it would make salvation a work of ours. Since salvation is all of grace, our belief is like the crying of a baby when it is born. It was alive before it cried, the cry is merely proof of life.

The gospel is Jesus. He came to earth, born of a virgin; He lived a perfect life, the life we could never live; He died on the cross, facing God’s wrath against sin in our place; and He rose again on the third day, showing that death and sin were defeated eternally. This is the message you must believe.

But when you believe, remember that that is the cry of life proving you are alive. It is not something you can pat yourself on the back about.

Believe the gospel!
